In December 2019 I held a contest to write a one-verse-one-chorus song for the person whose name was drawn. Mary Dillon was the winner and she shared this story with me for inspiration:
"I was raised in Montana. Dad died in a plane crash when I was two. Three sisters adn two brothers (one had Muscular Dystrophy). Mom raised us with my favorite saying (whenever we got cuts, bruises, burns, or fractures): "IT IS A LONG WAY FROM YOUR HEART". So basically buck up and get over it. It will be gone soon enough."
This is a song about resilience. Thank you, Mary, for the inspiration. I really enjoyed working on this song.
